Dear Julian Assange Campaign,
Thank you for keeping me informed of the steps you are taking now that Julian Assange is no longer in prison. www.action.assangecampaign.org.au/?pc=nl2&link_id=0&can_id=769c9ae31a10aaccbd732d11ed5c1f7c&source=email-newsletter-october-2024-julians-first-public-statement-since-release&email_referrer=email_2471423&email_subject=newsletter-october-2024-julians-first-public-statement-since-release-_
I am afraid that I cannot support you in petitioning the political system in the way you feel obliged to do, though I understand the view that a pardon would be a prerequisite for Julian being able to continue the activity he was engaged in before being slandered and imprisoned.
I also do not feel that the idea of "freedom of the press" is an adequate response to the threats being encountered today.
That conclusion of mine is implicit in the following analysis: halva.proboards.com/post/2531
If the restrictions placed upon Julian prevent him from continuing what he was doing before, would they also prevent him from supporting a campaign such as that for the defence of 26th January and Australia Day, which does not directly target the criminality of the United States (and British) status quo but on the contrary focuses on the positive aspect of the historical role of English-speaking countries?
Given the coincidental convergence of the 26th January Australia issue with the implications of the same date in the problematic of the Greek Revolution, is it not an issue that Julian Assange could safely support and identify with, for his own benefit and for the general benefit?

and specifically this post: halva.proboards.com/post/2405
I would very much like to hear what Philip Adams has to say on this subject, not Phillip Adams the veteran ABC journalist but Phillip Adams, descendant of the Greek revolutionary Anagnostaras en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anagnostaras and tireless and successful campaigner for the freeing of Julian Assange.
Also important and relevant would be the thoughts on this subject of Julian Assange's lawyer Jennifer Robinson.
Hoping for YOUR interest in this train of thought.
Sincerely,
Wayne Hall
